AAKP National Patient Meeting to be Held in Nashville, Tennessee

The American Association of Kidney Patients is hosting its National Patient Meeting in Nashville, TN, September 23-25, 2016, at the Nashville Airport Marriott.

The AAKP Annual National Patient Meeting is the largest kidney patient education and advocacy meeting held in the United States.  The National Patient Meeting will feature healthcare and policy experts discussing topics including expansion of living kidney donation, new treatment methods, advances in medical technology and pharmaceuticals, efforts to keep kidney patients fully employed and re-employment, as well as training on social media activism.  Patients and their caregivers will gain information and advocacy skills they need to be even more effective in using their voices and experiences to improve access and quality of care for kidney patients and to influence public policy decisions. Professionals attending the meeting will be able to receive continuing education (CE) credits.

AAKP is currently accepting nominations for its Annual Award including new national awards designed to recognize the expanded role social media and journalism have as a key platform for educating and engaging kidney patients in the programs and decisions that impact their health. The awards recognize social media savvy advocates, media specialists and journalists who have increased patient education and engagement by using social media, print and video to champion kidney health issues and health policy.
