Tami Ramsey, a nurse who does home HD herself, has been kind enough to let us point you to her YouTube video of doing a home HD treatment with NxStage. In 43 minutes, she will walk you through all of the steps and tell you why she is doing what she is doing. Knowledge is power, and Tami knows a LOT about her treatments and how to do them safely.     Loved this video. I will be starting Home hemo training as my boyfriends care partner very soon and even though its a lot of steps, you make it look very do-able!

    I think it is great that Tami does her own dialysis and that she has taken the initiative to be active in her own care. I am glad she has shared her experience to show others that they are capable of doing home hemo.

    I realize that each facility has different training methods. However, I do have some concerns as far as infection control and the cannulation of her buttonholes (using the pick to bore into the buttonhole, reinserting the needle after she pulled it completely out, etc). I realize she has not had any infections, but feel it is important to follow certain measures to prevent them.
