H.R. 8376 Would Require Medicare to Cover Palliative PD or Home HD
Currently, Medicare will not cover in-center or home dialysis for patients electing hospice for an ESRD-related diagnosis, and the medical director of the hospice agency often determines what is ESRD-related. Without coverage, few patients get hospice services or they must stop dialysis to get them. Under the “Concurrent Care for Comfort Act” bill, the HHS Secretary can modify the limit on covered treatments for in-center, PD, and home HD patients who elect hospice care.
