Throwback Thursday: The Insignificance in The Significant

From the KidneyViews Archives

Sometimes a personal story from our archives is worth another look.

This week, we're revisiting “The Insignificance in The Significant,” by Yvonne Coleman, originally published on January 7, 2021. Drawing on more than two decades of living with kidney disease, dialysis, and transplantation, Yvonne reflects on the visible and invisible things people with kidney disease carry with them—and on finding hope, independence, and purpose along the way.

Her story is a reminder that life with kidney disease is about much more than treatments, numbers, supplies, and medical procedures. Behind them are people carrying their own histories, relationships, worries, accomplishments, hopes, and plans for the future.
