“Improving Home Dialysis Act of 2026” Would Expand Medicare Payment
If passed, H.R. 8875 would boost coverage for respite care and mental health services for eligible home dialysis patients and offer up to 20 sessions/year of staff-assisted respite home dialysis payment in the first 30 days of home dialysis or when a patient can’t competently dialyze independently due to a physical limitation. It would also provide a payment adjustment for up to 4 renal mental health services in the first 60 days of home dialysis. (ESRD regulations already require dialysis clinics to have Master’s Degree prepared social workers).
