Starting Dialysis Gradually
Dr. Kam Kalantar says transitions to dialysis, including home dialysis, should happen gradually, with an incremental approach—up to 2 sessions a week. The slow start helps patients transition onto dialysis, while preserving residual renal function and providing them with choices.
