The Dutch Kidney Foundation initiated NeXtkidney, a carry-on-sized HD machine, in 2012. Outcomes of the first clinical trial were good, and more trials will take place in France and the Netherlands in 2025. The goal is to get FDA approval to market NeXtkidney in the U.S.
