  • Home HD Patients Grasp Fluid Management Better than In-Center Ones

Compared to 839 people on in-center HD in the UK from six clinics, 99 receiving home HD had significantly more knowledge about fluid management and signs and symptoms of fluid overload. They also felt more in control and reported better adherence—though knowledge gaps remained.

  • Quanta SC+ Fluid Removal Accuracy

Through both passive and active fluid control mechanisms, the Quanta SC+ home HD machine was accurate to within 1 mL per hour for flow balance and to within 13 mL/hr for ultrafiltration.

  • PD—Controlling Volume to Reach Normal Hydration Protects the Heart

Reanalysis of data from a multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled trial looked at fluid control in PD in 151 patients followed for a year. While most (120) reached normal hydration levels as measured by bioimpedance analysis, those who did not had significantly higher left atrial diameter—and a lower left ventricular ejection fraction at the end of the study.
