Kidney disease treatment options
It’s important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to addressing your kidney health. The most important thing is that you have a plan that works for you and keeps your priorities in place.
Explore common types of dialysis
Simply put, dialysis is the process of removing waste and extra fluid from your body. There are two types of dialysis:
-
With hemodialysis, a machine filters waste and fluid from your blood and returns clean blood back to your body. This option can be done at home or in-center.
-
Peritoneal dialysis uses a catheter to exchange special fluid in and out of your abdomen to clean your blood. This option can be done at home.
Look into a kidney transplant
Studies show that receiving a healthy kidney donated from another person offers more positive benefits than any other kidney disease treatment option.1
