Among Prediabetic Patients, PD Nearly Tripled the Risk of New Onset Diabetes vs. HS
A retrospective cohort study was done of 1426 non-diabetic end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients who started PD or in-center HD. Over a 12 year period, 23% of the patients developed NODM. Among patients with prediabetes, those on PD had a 2.93 times higher risk of NODM than those on HD (p <0.001).

Frequent HD Shortens Recovery Time—Even in Nursing Homes
In a study of 2,309 people receiving 14 hours of more frequent HD in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), 92% reported recovery time of 2 hours or less. Those who received five treatments per week or had systolic blood pressure of 160-179 prior to treatment had greater odds of rapid recovery.

PD vs. Standard In-Center HD for Stroke Risk: A 14-year Study
Of 7,916 ESRD patients with atrial fibrillation between 2001 and 2013, data from 363 PD and 5,302 HD patients were analyzed. At 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years, the participants who used PD had significantly lower risks for outcomes including stroke, major bleeding, and intracranial hemorrhage than those using HD.
