Virtual KDIGO Controversies Conference to Focus on Home Dialysis Growth
What is the evidence base for increased use of home therapies? What are the facility-level barriers, and how can they be addressed? What are the individual-level and care partner challenges to the choice and use of home therapies? What are the financial and policy considerations? Answers to these four questions will be used to generate a consensus manuscript that will be a road map for development and implementation of strategies to increase use of home treatments and identify needs for additional evidence. In conjunction with National Kidney Month, the non-profit Medical Education Institute (MEI) is launching nine new home dialysis patient education online mini-courses. Ready-Set-Home eClasses are a new, free resource from MEI’s Home Dialysis Central. The dynamic, mobile-friendly lessons were designed to be convenient and easy to understand, and are written to give patients knowledge and confidence about home treatment.
