We at Home Dialysis Central keep a very close eye on the implantable device space—and this one snuck up on us! Noting that thrice weekly dialysis is “Not good enough for 2020,” Urologist Nikhil Shah, Pediatric Urologist Hiep Nguyen, and their team have developed and bench-tested a device about the size of a child’s fist, and they won a Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award from the National Academy of Medicine to support animal trials. Named after a child who sadly lost her battle with kidney disease, the Holly is still years away, but represents the passion for innovation in home dialysis.
